I stumbled upon your article with great interest, as my great grandfather drove cattle with Alex Maltsberger. His name was Will Hale and was mentioned in the True West magazine article: “Old Time Ranchers of the Southwest.”

I was fortunate enough to acquire an original copy of the magazine (June 1964) from Bob Boze Bell when he purchased the magazine. There is a group photograph taken at a cattleman’s association reunion which accompanied the article. I would be happy to scan the material for personal use.

Will and Alex remained close to each other, even later in Higgins, TX. Will was also a lawman in Lipscomb County, in office until after Prohibition.

I would be happy to share what I know, although we are not related, our ancestors were very much connected.

there may have been two georg washington maltsbergers i am going to post my family tree as soon as i can. as far as i know we are all decended from three men named maltsberger that imigrated in the early to mid 1700’s

i just got in contact with kristy maltsberger smith while looking up my ggfather george washinton maltsberger, it seems there may have been two ! i will post on face book my family tree asap. as far as i can trace it back two brothers and a son or a man and two sons named maltsberger imigrated here from europe in the early 1700’s we are all from those men at some point. look forward to hearing from you dean

I came across your site while trying to verify if ny Great Great Uncle George Washington Alexander Maltsberger is any relation to the one in your story. His parents would have been John and Isabella (Bales) Maltsberger. My Great Great Grandpa was Jacob Aaorn Maltsberger and Great Grandpa was Walter Herman James Maltsberger, subsequently my paternal grandpa was Harold James Maltsberger……any relation?

What a great write-up! I found this page while researching my family. My Great-Great Grandmother was Sarah Maltsberger, who would have been George Washington Maltsberger’s Aunt. Wonderful story to add to my files, thanks!
